Pendant ce temps au château, la reine se sentait mieux. Elle pensait que Blanche-Neige avait disparu pour toujours. Mais elle avait encore un peu peur.
« Viens jouer au Scrabble avec moi, mon amour ! » appela le roi en bas de l’escalier. « Tu peux jouer la première ! »
Meanwhile (during these times) at the castle, the queen felt better. She thought that Snow White was gone forever. But she was still a little afraid.
"Come and play Scrabble with me, my love!" called the king from the bottom of the stairs. "You can go first! (you can play the first)"
« Peut-être plus tard, mon chéri », répondit la reine. Elle était debout en face du miroir magique.
« Miroir, mon beau miroir, dis-moi qui est la plus belle ? »
"Maybe later, dearest," replied the queen. She was standing in front of the magic mirror.
"Mirror, my beautiful mirror, tell me who is the most beautiful?"
Le miroir répondit : « Vous êtes très belle, ma Reine. Mais la fille, Blanche-Neige est la plus belle femme du monde. »
« Blanche-Neige est EN VIE ?? » cria la reine.
The mirror replied: "You are very beautiful, my queen. But the girl Snow White is the most beautiful woman in the world."
"Snow White is ALIVE?!" cried the queen.
« Elle vit avec les sept nains dans la forêt », dit le miroir. « La nuit dernière elle n’était pas très belle. Mais depuis une heure de l’après-midi aujourd’hui, elle est plus belle que vous. »
"She is living with the seven dwarfs in the forest," said the mirror. "Last night she was not very beautiful. But since ... one in the afternoon today, she is more beautiful than you."
« QUOI !? » cria la reine. Elle alla chercher son vieux manteau et ses bottes dans l’armoire.
« Je vais devoir la tuer moi-même ! »
Elle quitta le palais en courant et prit son carrosse le plus rapide. Elle partit en direction de la forêt.
"WHAT?!" cried the queen. She went to fetch her old coat and boots from the closet.
"I'm going to have to kill her myself!"
She left the palace and got into (took) her fastest carriage. She headed for the forest. (She left in the direction of the forest.)
Blanche-Neige lisait au coin du feu lorsqu’elle entendit frapper à la porte.

Snow White was reading beside the fireplace when she heard a knock on the door.
Knock knock!
Elle regarda par la fenêtre. Il y avait une femme qui tenait un panier de fruits. Le visage de la femme était beau mais elle portait une vieille robe et de vieilles bottes.
She looked out the window. There was a woman holding a basket of fruit. The woman's face was beautiful, but she was wearing an old dress and old boots.
« Des fruits ! Des fruits frais ! Des pommes, des bananes, des poires et des oranges ! »
« Oh, je veux bien un fruit... » pensa Blanche-Neige.
"Fruit! Fresh fruit! Apples, bananas, pears and oranges!"
"Oh, I want some fruit..." thought Snow White.
La femme vit Blanche-Neige par la fenêtre.
« Bonjour ma chère! Veux-tu un fruit ? Aujourd’hui j’ai de délicieuses pommes. »
The woman saw Snow White through the window.
"Hello, my dear! Do you want some fruit? Today I have some delicious apples... "
« J’aime les pommes... » dit Blanche-Neige. « Mais je ne suis pas censée ouvrir la porte à qui que ce soit...ces pommes pourraient être empoisonnées. »
"I love apples..." said Snow White. "But I'm not supposed to open the door to anyone... Those apples could be poisoned."
« Oh comme c’est bête », dit la femme. Elle coupa une pomme en deux.
« Voilà. Tu peux goûter la moitié et je mangerai l’autre moitié. Comme ça tu verras qu’elle n’est PAS empoisonnée. »
"Oh, how silly," said the woman. She cut an apple in half. "Here. You can taste half and I will eat the other half. That way you will see that it is NOT poisoned."
Blanche-Neige ouvrit la porte.
La femme lui donna une moitié de pomme et mangea l’autre moitié.
Snow White opened the door.
The woman gave her half an apple and ate the other half.
Lorsque Blanche-Neige vit la femme manger cette pomme juteuse, elle en eut l’eau à la bouche. Elle ne put s’en empêcher. Elle mordit à pleines dents dans la pomme.
When Snow White saw the woman eating this juicy apple, her mouth watered. She couldn't resist, and took a big bite out of the apple. (She bit with full teeth in the apple.)
Presque immédiatement, Blanche-Neige tomba à terre. La pomme était empoisonnée mais seulement à moitié !
La reine soupira avec soulagement. Rapidement elle remonta dans son carrosse et retourna au château.
Almost immediately, Snow White fell to the ground. The apple was poisoned, but only half!
The queen sighed with relief. She quickly climbed back into her carriage and returned to the castle.
