A girl sits at her bedroom window and looks at the street below. She is waiting for summer.

The girl sitting at her bedroom window while it snows outside

Translate?

She wants to eat (some) ice cream and go swimming. She wants picnics and strawberries.

Translate?

She has had enough of winter coats and gloves. She has had enough of the grey sky and the snow.

The girl in her winter clothes

Her mother says that summer is still far away. Her father says that there will be more snow.

But she sits at the window and she looks for signs that summer has arrived.

Translate?

Just then, she sees an ice cream truck arriving in the street.

The icecream truck

Translate?

“An ice cream truck! That MUST mean it’s summer!” she exclaims.

She runs to her closet and puts on her bathing suit and her straw hat.

She runs down the stairs and rushes outside and…

The girl running down the stairs

CRAC !

Translate?

CRUNCH!

She looks down (lit: lowers her eyes) and sees her bare feet….in the icy grass.

The girl standing on the icy grass

Translate?

“But… I saw an ice cream truck ...” she says, a little lost.

Translate?

She looks up (lit: lifts her eyes)  just in time to see the ice cream truck turn at the corner of the street and enter the auto repair shop (lit: mechanic’s place)

Translate?

Moral: Don’t draw a conclusion from a single observation; one ice cream truck does not make it summer.
