Dopo di ciò, i giorni di Raperonzolo si fecero tutti uguali. Puliva la stanza in cima alla torre. Si intrecciava i capelli lunghissimi.
After that, every day was the same for Rapunzel (lit: the days of Rapunzel became all the same). She cleaned the room at the top of the tower. She braided her long, long hair.
Ogni giorno, a ora di pranzo, la strega andava a visitarla. Dai piedi della torre le gridava: “Raperonzolo! Raperonzolo! Lascia cadere i capelli!”
Every day at lunchtime, the witch came to visit her. From the foot of the tower she shouted: "Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let your hair fall!"
Raperonzolo gettava i capelli fuori dalla finestra. La strega si arrampicava sui capelli di Raperonzolo come su di una corda ed entrava passando per la finestra.
Rapunzel threw her hair out of the window. The witch climbed Rapunzel's hair like a rope and entered through the window.
Aveva insegnato a Raperonzolo come preparare delle medicine usando le erbe. E Raperonzolo amava la strega. La strega era l’unica amica di Raperonzolo.
She taught Rapunzel how to make medicines using herbs. And Rapunzel loved the witch. The witch was Rapunzel's only friend.
Una notte, Raperonzolo stava leggendo un libro accanto alla finestra quando sentì qualcuno gridare dal basso:
“Raperonzolo! Raperonzolo! Lascia cadere i capelli!”
One night, Rapunzel was reading a book by the window when she heard someone shouting from below:
"RAPUNZEL! RAPUNZEL! LET YOUR HAIR FALL!"
“Che strano,” pensò. “La strega non viene mai a quest’ora.”
Gettò i capelli fuori dalla finestra e la persona si arrampicò.
"How strange," she thought. "The witch never comes at this time."
She threw her hair out the window and the person climbed up.
Ma quando questa persona arrivò in cima, Raperonzolo vide che non era la strega. Era un uomo!
But when this person reached the top, Rapunzel saw that it was not the witch. It was a man!
Con uno scatto Raperonzolo afferrò il suo libro e colpì l’uomo sulla testa.
“Fuori! Fuori! Tu non sei la strega!”
Lo straniero cadde a terra. “Ahia! Ahia! Smettila di picchiarmi!” la implorò.
Quickly (lit: with a sudden movement), Rapunzel grabbed her book and hit the man on the head.
"Out! Out! You're not the witch!"
The strange man fell to the floor. "Ow! Ow! Stop hitting me!" he pleaded.
“Chi sei? Che cosa vuoi? Perché ti sei arrampicato su i miei capelli?” chiese Raperonzolo.
“Sono Cristian! Mi chiamo Cristian!” gemette. “Sono venuto qui a salvarti…?”
"Who are you? What do you want? Why did you climb my hair?" Rapunzel asked.
"I'm Cristian! My name is Cristian!" he whimpered. "I came here to save you...?"
Come potete immaginare, Raperonzolo non era molto colpita.
“Dimmelo, Cristian, ti sembra che abbia bisogno di essere salvata?”
As you can imagine, Rapunzel was not very impressed.
"Tell me, Cristian, does it look like I need to be saved?"
“Mi dispiace,” disse Cristian. “Pensavo che questa fosse la mia occasione per fare l’eroe.”
“Che vuoi dire?” chiese Raperonzolo.
"I'm sorry. I thought that this was my chance to be a hero," said Cristian.
"What do you mean?" asked Rapunzel.
“La mia occasione per fare l’eroe! Ogni uomo deve fare l’eroe almeno una volta nella vita. È l’unico modo per vivere sempre felici e contenti!”
"My chance to be a hero! Every man must be a hero at least once in his life. It's the only way to live happily ever after!"
Raperonzolo posò il libro.
“Io non ho bisogno di nessun eroe,” disse con gentilezza. “Vattene. Va’ a fare l’eroe da un’altra parte. È tardi. Voglio andarmene a dormire.”
Raperonzolo gettò i capelli fuori dalla finestra.
Rapunzel put the book down.
"I don't need a hero," she said kindly. "Go away. Go be a hero elsewhere (lit: go do the hero somewhere else). It's late. I want to go to sleep."
Rapunzel threw her hair out the window.
“Beh, posso tornare domani per fare quattro chiacchiere? Sembri una brava persona,” disse Cristian. “Ti ho portato una corda. È meglio che usare i tuoi capelli per entrare e uscire dalla torre.”
"Well, can I come back tomorrow for a chat? ("to do four chit-chats" — colloquial) You seem like a nice person," said Cristian. "I brought you a rope. It's better than using your hair to get in and out of the tower."
“Va bene, va bene,” disse Raperonzolo. “Buonanotte, Cristian.” E Cristian si arrampicò fuori dalla finestra e si calò lungo i capelli di Raperonzolo.
"Fine, fine," said Rapunzel. "Good night, Cristian." And Cristian went out the window and climbed down Rapunzel's hair.
