Währenddessen fühlte sich die Königin im Schloss besser. Sie dachte, dass Schneewittchen für immer fort wäre. Aber sie hatte immer noch ein bisschen Angst.
Meanwhile, at the castle, the queen felt better. She thought that Snow White was gone forever. But she was still a little scared.
„Komm her und spiel mit mir Mensch ärgere Dich nicht, meine Liebste!”, rief der König durch das Treppenhaus. „Du darfst auch anfangen!”
"Come here and play "Mensch ärgere Dich nicht" with me, my love!" the king called from the (foot of the) stairs. "You can start!"
„Vielleicht später, Liebster!”, antwortete die Königin. Sie stand vor ihrem magischen Spiegel.
„Spieglein, Spieglein an der Wand, wer ist die Schönste im ganzen Land?”
"Maybe later, dearest!" replied the queen. She stood in front of her magic mirror.
"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most beautiful in the whole land?"
Der Spiegel antwortete:
“Du bist sehr schön, meine Königin. Aber das Mädchen Schneewittchen ist die Schönste im Land.”
„Schneewittchen ist AM LEBEN?”, rief die Königin.
The mirror replied:
"You are very beautiful, my queen. But the girl Snow White is the most beautiful in the land."
"Snow White is ALIVE?" cried the queen.
„Sie lebt mit den sieben Zwergen im Wald”, sagte der Spiegel. „Letzte Nacht war sie nicht sehr schön. Aber seit … ein Uhr heute Mittag ist sie schöner als du.”
"She lives with the seven dwarfs in the forest," said the mirror. "Last night she was not very beautiful. But since... one'o'clock this afternoon she has been more beautiful than you."
„VERFLIXT!” rief die Königin. Sie ging zu ihrem Schrank und nahm ihren alten Mantel und ihre alten Stiefel heraus.
„Ich muss sie wohl selbst töten!”
Sie lief aus dem Palast, sprang in ihre schnellste Kutsche und eilte in den Wald.
"DRAT!" cried the queen. She went to her closet and took out her old coat and boots.
"I guess I have to kill her myself!"
She ran out of the palace, jumped into her fastest carriage, and sped into the forest.
Schneewittchen las gerade neben dem Feuer, als es an der Tür klopfte.
TOK TOK!
Snow White was reading beside the fire when there was a knock on the door.
KNOCK KNOCK!
Sie schaute aus dem Fenster. Da war eine Frau mit einem Korb voller Früchte. Die Frau hatte ein schönes Gesicht, aber sie trug ein altes Kleid und alte Schuhe.
She looked out the window. There was a woman with a basket full of fruit. The woman had a beautiful face, but she was wearing an old dress and shoes.
„Obst! Frisches Obst! Äpfel und Bananen und Birnen und Orangen!”
„Oh, ich möchte etwas Obst…”, dachte Schneewittchen.
Durch das Fenster sah die Frau Schneewittchen.
„Hallo, meine Liebes!”, sagte die Frau. „Möchtest du etwas Obst? Ich habe heute köstliche Äpfel.”
"Fruit! Fresh fruit! Apples and bananas and pears and oranges!"
"Oh, I want some fruit..." thought Snow White.
The woman saw Snow White through the window.
"Hello, my dear!" said the woman. "Do you want some fruit? I have delicious apples today..."
„Ich liebe Äpfel...”, sagte Schneewittchen. „Aber ich soll niemandem die Tür aufmachen… Diese Äpfel könnten vergiftet sein.”
"I love apples..." said Snow White. "But I shouldn't open the door to anyone... Those apples could be poisoned... "
„Ach, wie albern!”, sagte die Frau. Sie schnitt den Apfel in zwei Hälften.
„Hier. Du kannst die eine Hälfte probieren und ich esse die andere. So weißt du, dass er NICHT vergiftet ist.”
"Oh, how silly!" said the woman. She cut the apple into two halves.
"Here. You can try one half and I will eat the other. So you'll know that it is NOT poisoned."
Schneewittchen öffnete die Tür.
Die Frau gab Schneewittchen die eine Hälfte und aß die andere.
Snow White opened the door.
The woman gave one half to Snow White and ate the other.
Als Schneewittchen sah, wie die Frau den saftigen Apfel aß, lief ihr das Wasser im Mund zusammen. Sie konnte sich nicht zurückhalten. Sie nahm einen großen Bissen vom Apfel.
When Snow White saw the woman eating the juicy apple, her mouth watered. She couldn't resist (couldn't hold back). She took a big bite of the apple.
Fast sofort fiel Schneewittchen zu Boden. Der Apfel war vergiftet, aber nur die eine Hälfte! Die Königin seufzte vor Erleichterung. Schnell ging sie zurück zu ihrer Kutsche und fuhr wieder zum Schloss.
Almost immediately, Snow White fell to the ground. The apple was poisoned, but only half of it! The queen sighed with relief. She hurried back to her carriage and drove back to the castle.
