Klack! … Klack!

Translate?

One evening, the lion gets himself ready for bed. He reads himself a bedtime story (literally “good night story”) and hums a lullaby. Then he hears a sound...
Tap! ... Tap!

Translate?

“What is that noise?" (literally: “What kind of noise is that?”) he whispers to himself.
Tap! ... Tap!
“The sound… it’s coming from outside, by the window!”
(literally: in front of the window)

Klackedi-klack! KLACK!

Translate?

He climbs out of bed, grabs a baseball bat and walks on tiptoe over to the window.
Tappity-tap! TAP!

KLACK! … KLACK! … Klackedi-KLACK!

Translate?

“Who or what is THAT?” wonders the Lion. He grabs his bicycle helmet and puts it on. There’s that sound again!
TAP! ... TAP! … Tappity-TAP!

Der Löwe kriegt Panik. „Es kommt immer näher! Das muss ein MONSTER sein!“
Klackedi-klack!
KLACKEDI-KLACK!
KLACKEDI-KLACKEDI-KLACKEDI … KLACK!

Translate?

The lion panics. “It’s getting closer and closer! (literally: always closer) It must be a MONSTER!”
Tappity-tap!
TAPPITY-TAP!
TAPPITY-TAPPITY-TAPPITY…. TAP!

"EEEK!" He runs away from the window and hides under the bed. He pulls a blanket over his mane. He holds his baseball bat tightly in his paws, and….

Translate?

... A tiny frog jumps (up) on the ledge of the window. He is wearing a tutu and tap shoes. He begins to dance. Tappity-tap!

“Hello Lion! Are you there?” greets the frog through the closed window.

Translate?

He looks inside and sees the lion hiding under the bed. The lion is wrapped in a bedspread, wearing a bicycle helmet and clutching a baseball bat. He looks ridiculous.

(And to be honest, he feels ridiculous too.)

Translate?

"Ummm… I wanted to show you my new dance moves!" the frog calls out.  "But you look busy. I’ll come back later. See ya!"

Klack-KLACK! Klackedi-klackedi-KLACK!

Translate?

The frog hops off the window ledge again and happily dances away.*

Tap-TAP! Tappity-tappity-TAP!

* Note: “von dannen” is an old-fashioned way of saying “away”, similar to “away from there / thence”.
