Una niña se para detrás de la ventana de su dormitorio, mira hacia la calle. Ella espera a que llegue el verano.

Ella quiere comer helado e ir a nadar. Ella quiere días de campo y fresas.

She wants to eat ice cream and go swimming. She wants picnics and strawberries.

Está cansada de las chaquetas y los guantes de invierno. Está cansada de los cielos grises y la nieve.

She is tired of winter jackets and gloves. She is tired of grey skies and snow.

Su madre dice que el verano está muy lejos. Su padre dice que viene más nieve.

Her mother says that summer is far away. Her father says that more snow is coming.

Pero ella se para detrás de la ventana, buscando alguna señal de que es verano.

But she stands by the window, searching for some sign that it’s summer.

Justo entonces, Ella ve un camión de helados pasando por la calle.

Just then, she sees an ice cream truck passing down the street.

“¡Un camión de helados! ¡Eso QUIERE decir que es verano!” ella ríe.

“An ice cream truck! That MUST mean it’s summer!” she laughs.

Ella corre a su armario y se pone un vestido de baño y su sombrero de verano.

She runs to her closet and puts on her bathing suit and her summer hat. 

Baja corriendo las escaleras y sale por la puerta y ...

She runs down the stairs and out the door and…

Mira hacia abajo y ve sus pies descalzos… en la hierba helada.

CRUNCH!

She looks down and sees her bare feet….in the icy grass.

“Pero… yo vi un camión de helados”, dice confundida.

“But…I saw an ice cream truck,” she says, confused.

Ella levanta la mirada justo para ver al camión de helados voltear en la esquina y entrar en el taller de reparación.

She looks up just in time to see the ice cream truck turn the corner and pull into the (auto) repair shop.

Moraleja: No saques conclusiones basadas en una sola observación. Un camión de helados no hace un verano.

Moral: Don’t draw a conclusion based on a single observation; one ice cream truck does not make a summer.
