Un perro está caminando por la ciudad cuando ve un hueso en la basura afuera de un restaurante.
A dog is walking through the city when he sees a bone in the trash outside a restaurant.
“¡Un hueso! ¡Soy tan afortunado!”, piensa el perro. Agarra el hueso y felizmente, corre a la casa con él en su boca.
“A bone! I’m so lucky!” thinks the dog. He grabs the bone and happily runs home with it in his mouth.
Él pasa corriendo por la estación del tren y la escuela. Corre por el parque. Corre hacia un puente.
He runs past (literally: passes running) the train station and the school. He runs through the park. He runs onto a bridge.
En el puente, el perro mira abajo el agua estancada. Allí, ve otro perro con un hueso en su boca.
On the bridge, the dog looks down into the still water. There, he sees another dog with a bone in its mouth.
“¿Quién es ese perro?” piensa. “¿Qué está haciendo allá abajo?”
El perro mira al otro fijamente. El otro perro le devuelve la mirada.
“Who is that dog?” he thinks. "What is he doing down there?"
The dog stares at the other dog (lit: looks at the other dog fixedly). The other dog stares back (lit: the other dog returns the look).
“¿Adónde encontró ese perro un hueso tan GRANDE?” se pregunta el perro. “¿Por qué es su hueso más grande que el mío?”
El perro le gruñe al otro. El otro le gruñe también.
“Where did that dog get such a BIG bone?” the dog wonders. "Why is his bone bigger than mine?"
The dog growls at the other dog. The other dog growls too.
“¡Quiero ese hueso grande!”, piensa.
El perro codicioso decide robarle el hueso al otro perro. Él salta del puente al agua. ¡Chof!
“I want that big bone!” he thinks.
The greedy dog decides to steal the other dog's bone. He leaps off the bridge and into the water. Splash!
Pero, tan pronto como cae al agua, el otro perro desaparece. ¡Era solo su reflejo!
But as soon as he hits the water, the other dog disappears. It was just his own reflection!
El agua es muy profunda y el perro está sorprendido.
“¡Guau guau guau!” ladra.
Mientras ladra, su hueso se cae de la boca y se hunde hasta el fondo del agua.
The water is very deep and the dog is surprised.
“Woof woof woof!” he barks.
As he barks, his bone drops from his mouth and sinks to the bottom of the water.
El perro nada hasta la orilla. Está mojado y frío, y sin su hueso.
The dog swims to shore. He is wet and cold, and without his bone.
Moraleja : Sé feliz con lo que tienes. Si eres codicioso, podrías perderlo todo.
Moral: Be happy with what you have. If you're greedy, you might lose everything.
