Расскажу я вам историю про одного петушка. Его зовут петушок Петя. Он живет в обыкновенном маленьком городе, в обыкновенном маленьком доме.
Let me tell you a story about a rooster. His name is Peter the Rooster. He lives in a normal little town, in a normal little house.
Петушок Петя не высокого, но и не маленького роста. Он не толстый, но и не худой. Он не умный, но и не глупый. Он очень обыкновенный петушок.
Peter the Rooster is neither tall nor short. He is neither fat nor thin. He is neither smart nor stupid. He is a completely normal rooster.
Одним совсем обыкновенным утром петушок Петя завтракает на кухне. Он любит булочку с маслом и кофе со сливками на завтрак.
One completely normal morning, Peter the Rooster is eating his breakfast in the kitchen. He likes toast with butter and coffee with cream (for breakfast).
Он читает новости в интернете. Он видит ужасную новость. У новости ужасный заголовок: «НЕБО ПАДАЕТ!»
He is reading news on the internet. He sees terrifying news. The news has a terrifying headline: THE SKY IS FALLING!
Ему становится так страшно, что его булочка с маслом падает в кофе со сливками. Буль!
«Небо падает? НЕБО ПАДАЕТ! - кричит петушок Петя. - Я должен всех предупредить!»
He is so scared that his toast with butter falls into his coffee with cream. Plop!
“The sky is falling? THE SKY IS FALLING!” shouts Peter the Rooster. “I have to warn everyone!”
Сначала он посылает имейл с этой новостью тысяче своих самых близких друзей. Затем бежит на улицу предупредить всех остальных жителей города.
First, he sends an email with this news to one-thousand of his closest friends. Then runs outside to warn the rest of the residents of his town.
По дороге он встречает курочку Дашу. Она идет из супермаркета.
«Доброе утро, петушок Петя! - говорит курочка Даша. - Куда ты идёшь? Почему ты так испуган?»
On the road he meets Dasha the Hen. She is coming from the supermarket.
“Good morning, Peter the Rooster!” says Dasha the Hen. “Where are you going? Why are you so scared?”
«Небо падает! Небо падает!»- говорит петушок Петя.
«Правда? А откуда ты знаешь?»- спрашивает курочка Даша.
«Я видел в интернете!» - говорит петушок Петя.
“The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” says Peter the Rooster.
“Really? How do you know?” asks Dasha the Hen.
“I saw it on the internet!” says Peter the Rooster.
«Вот это да! Ну тогда это правда! - говорит Даша. - Пойдём!»
Петушок Петя и курочка Даша бегут к пруду.
“Holy moly! So then it's true!” says Dasha. “Let's go!”
Peter the Rooster and Dasha the Hen run towards the pond.
У пруда они встречают утку Глашу. Она купается.
«Привет, друзья! - говорит утка Глаша. - Куда вы идёте? Почему вы так испуганы?»
By the pond, they meet Glasha the Duck. She is having a bath.
“Hello, friends!” says Glasha the Duck. “Where are you going? Why are you so scared?”
«Небо падает! Небо падает!» - говорят петушок Петя и курочка Даша.
«Правда? А откуда вы знаете?» - спрашивает Глаша.
«Я видел в интернете!» - говорит петушок Петя.
“The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” say Peter the Rooster and Dasha the Hen.
“Really? How do you know?” asks Glasha.
“I saw it on the internet!” says Peter the Rooster.
«Ничего себе! Тогда это правда! - говорит Глаша. - Пойдёмте!»
И петушок Петя, курочка Даша и утка Глаша бегут на ферму.
“Oh no! So then it's true!” says Glasha. “Let’s go!”
So Peter the Rooster, Dasha the Hen, and Glasha the Duck run towards the farm.
Они приходят на ферму и встречают гуся Гошу. Он читает стихотворения голубю Грише.
«Приветствую всех! - говорит гусь Гоша. - Куда это вы идёте? Почему вы так испуганы?»
When they reach the farm they meet Gosha the Goose. He is reading poems to Grisha the Pigeon.
“Hello everyone!” says Gosha the Goose. “Where are you going? Why are you so scared?”
«Небо падает. НЕБО ПАДАЕТ!» - кричат все.
«Да ну! А откуда вы знаете?»- спрашивает голубь Гриша.
«МЫ ВИДЕЛИ В ИНТЕРНЕТЕ!!» - говорят они.
“The sky is falling. THE SKY IS FALLING!” everyone yells.
“No way! How do you know?” asks Grisha the Рigeon.
“WE SAW IT ON THE INTERNET!!” they say.
«Вот те на! Тогда это правда! - говорит Гоша. - Нет времени читать стихотворения. Вперёд!»
И петушок Петя, курочка Даша, утка Глаша, гусь Гоша и голубь Гриша бегут в город.
“Gee Whiz! So then it's true!” says Gosha. “There is no time to read poems now. Let's go!”
And Peter the Rooster, Dasha the Hen, Glasha the Duck, Gosha the Goose and Grisha the Pigeon run towards the town.
На главной улице они встречают лису Алису. Она сидит в кафе и печатает что-то на ноутбуке.
On the main street, they meet Alisa the Fox. She is sitting at a cafe, typing something оn her notebook.
«Здравствуйте! - говорит лиса Алиса. - Куда вы идёте? Почему вы так испуганы?»
«НЕБО ПАДАЕТ! НЕБО ПААААДААААЕЕЕЕТ!» - кричат все.
“Hello everyone!” says Alisa the Fox. “Where are you going? Why are you so scared?”
“THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKYYYY IS FAAALLLLING!” everyone yells.
«Правда? А откуда вы знаете?» - спрашивает Алиса.
«МЫ ВИДЕЛИ В ИНТЕРНЕТЕ!!!!» - кричат они все вместе.
“Really? How do you know?” asks Alisa.
“WE SAW IT ON THE INTERNET!!!!” they all shout.
«Вау! Ну тогда это правда! - говорит лиса. - Не волнуйтесь друзья, я знаю отличное место где можно спрятаться. За мной!»
“Wow! So then it's true!” says the fox. “But don’t worry, friends, I know the perfect place to hide. Follow me!”
Лиса Алиса ведет всех через город, вниз по дороге, через поле к холму. На вершине холма большая и тёмная пещера.
Alisa the fox leads everyone through the town, down the road, across the field, and to a hill. At the top of the hill is a big, dark cave.
«Заходите! Заходите! - говорит лиса Алиса. - Всем места хватит! Здесь небо на нас не упадёт. Мы в безопасности».
“Come in! Come in!” says Alisa the Fox. “There is enough room for everybody! The sky won't fall on us here. We are safe.”
И так, друг за другом, петушок Петя и все его друзья идут следом за лисой в пещеру.
And so, one by one, Peter the Rooster and all of his friends follow the fox into the cave.
На следующее утро оказывается, что петушок Петя и все его друзья исчезли. В пещере никого нет. Там пусто.
The next morning it turns out that Peter the Rooster and his friends have disappeared. There is no one in the cave. It is empty.
Куда они исчезли? Мы точно не знаем. Но я скажу одно: лиса Алиса очень счастлива.
Where did they disappear? We don’t know for sure. But I will tell you one thing: Alisa the Fox is very happy.
«Глупышки», - говорит лиса. Она садится под дерево, достаёт свой ноутбук и снова начинает печатать.
“Silly little things,” says the Fox. She sits under a tree, gets her laptop, and begins to type again.
