El cazador encontró a Blancanieves y la llevó al bosque. Cuando llegaron a lo más profundo y oscuro del bosque, el cazador se detuvo.
“¡Vete!” susurró. “Corre rápido y lejos y no se te ocurra regresar”.
The hunter found Snow White and led her into the forest. When they reached the deepest and darkest (part) of the forest, the hunter stopped.
"Go!" he whispered. "Run fast and far, and don't even think about going back!" ("don't occur to go back")
Blancanieves observó al cazador desaparecer.
“Bueno, no puedo ir a casa ahora”, dijo Blancanieves. Miró alrededor del bosque oscuro y silencioso. Empezó a llover.
“Pero tampoco puedo quedarme aquí. En marcha”.
Snow White watched the hunter disappear.
"Well, I can't go home now," said Snow White. She looked around at the dark and silent forest. It started to rain.
"But I can't stay here either. Let's go."
Blancanieves corrió y corrió. Cruzó un arroyo, subió una colina y bajó hasta un valle oscuro. Blancanieves corrió toda la mañana.
Snow White ran and ran. She crossed a stream, went up a hill, and down into a dark valley. Snow White ran all morning.
Al mediodía, su piel pálida y sus mejillas rosadas estaban cubiertas de lodo y raspones. Al comienzo de la tarde, su largo y negro cabello estaba lleno de ramitas y hojas.
At midday, her pale skin and rosy cheeks were covered in mud and scratches. By early afternoon her long black hair was full of twigs and leaves.
En la noche, Blancanieves ya no era hermosa. Estaba cansada, hambrienta y temblaba de frío. Pero entonces Blancanieves olió a leña quemada. Siguió el olor y encontró una cabaña en el bosque.
By night, she was no longer beautiful. She was tired, hungry, and shivering with cold. But then Snow White smelled woodsmoke (firewood burning). She followed the smell and found a cottage in the woods.
Blancanieves notó un brillo dorado a través de las ventanas y tocó la puerta.
“¿Hola?” llamó. “¿Hay alguien en casa?”
Nadie respondió. Blancanieves empujó la puerta y entró.
Snow White noticed a golden glow through the windows and knocked on the door.
"Hello?" she called out. "Is anyone home?"
No one answered. Snow White pushed open the door and entered.
En el interior de la cabaña había siete camas y siete sillas pequeñas, un fuego crepitante y una mesa grande llena de platos sucios.
Inside the cottage were seven small beds and chairs, a roaring fire, and a large table covered in dirty dishes.
Blancanieves estaba hambrienta y sedienta. Encontró pan y se comió toda la barra. Encontró leche y se tomó toda la botella. Después se sentó delante del fuego para calentarse. Y así se quedó dormida.
Snow White was hungry and thirsty. She found bread and ate the whole loaf. She found milk and drank the whole bottle. Then she sat down in front of the fire to warm herself. And just like that (and so), she fell asleep.
Cuando despertó, había siete enanitos parados a su alrededor.
Blancanieves se frotó los ojos.
“¿Quiénes son ustedes?” preguntó.
When she woke up, there were seven dwarfs standing around her. Snow White rubbed her eyes.
"Who are you?" she asked.
“¡Esta es nuestra casa!” dijo un enanito con enfado. “¿Quién eres tú?”
“Shhh, ¡la asustarás!” dijo otro enanito.
“Es una gigante. ¡Ella me asusta a mí!” dijo otro.
"This is our house!" said one dwarf angrily. "Who are YOU?"
"Shhh, you'll scare her!" said another dwarf.
"She's a giant. It's she who scares me!" said another.
“¿Puedo quedarme con ustedes?" pregunto Blancaneves. "No puedo ir a casa.”
Los enanitos susurraron entre ellos.
“Está bien”, aceptaron. “Pero solo si nos ayudas a lavar los platos. Odiamos lavar los platos”.
“Trato hecho” dijo Blancanieves.
"Can I stay with you?" asked Snow White. "I can't go home."
The dwarfs whispered among themselves.
"Okay," they agreed. "But only if you help us wash the dishes. We hate washing dishes."
"It's a deal (deal done)," said Snow White.
Y entonces, Blancanieves encontró un nuevo hogar con los siete enanitos.
Cada mañana, Blancanieves lavaba los platos. Y cada mañana, cuando los enanitos se iban a trabajar, decían:
And so Snow White found a new home with the seven dwarfs. Every morning Snow White washed the dishes. And every morning when the dwarfs left for work, they said:
“Ten cuidado. No le abras la puerta a nadie. Y gracias por lavar los platos. La verdad es que odiamos lavar los platos”.
"Be careful! Don't open the door to anyone. And thank you for washing the dishes. (The truth is) we hate washing the dishes."
