En el castillo, la reina se sentía mejor. Pensaba que Blancanieves había desaparecido para siempre. Pero todavía tenía un poco de miedo.
In the castle, the queen felt better. She thought that Snow White was gone (had disappeared) forever. But she was still a little afraid.
“¡Ven a jugar al Scrabble conmigo, mi amor!” gritó el rey desde el pie de las escaleras. “¡Puedes comenzar tú!”.
"Come and play Scrabble with me, my love!" cried the king from the foot of the stairs. "You can start!"
“Quizás más tarde, querido”, respondió la reina, y se puso delante del espejo mágico.
“Espejo mágico, dime una cosa, ¿quién es de este reino la más hermosa?”.
"Maybe later, dear," replied the queen, and she stood before the magic mirror.
"Magic mirror, tell me one thing, who is the most beautiful in this kingdom?"
Y el espejo respondió: “Usted es muy hermosa, mi reina. Pero Blancanieves es la más hermosa del reino”.
“¿Blancanieves está VIVA?” gritó la reina.
The mirror replied: "You are very beautiful, my queen. But Snow White is the most beautiful in the kingdom."
"Snow White is ALIVE?!" yelled the queen.
“Está viviendo con siete enanitos en el bosque” dijo el espejo. “Ayer a la noche no era tan hermosa. Pero hoy, a partir de la una de la tarde, se volvió más hermosa que usted”.
"She is living with seven dwarfs in the forest," said the mirror. "Last (yesterday) night she was not so beautiful. But today, since one in the afternoon, she has become more beautiful than you."
“¡MALDITA SEA!” gritó la reina. Fue hasta el armario y sacó su viejo abrigo y sus botas.
“¡Tendré que matarla yo misma!”
La reina salió corriendo del palacio, se subió a su carruaje más veloz y se fue rápidamente hacia el bosque.
"CURSES!" yelled the queen. She went to the closet and pulled out her old coat and boots. "I'll have to kill her myself!"
The queen ran out of the palace, got into her fastest carriage, and sped (went quickly) towards the forest.
Blancanieves leía junto al fuego cuando alguien tocó la puerta.
TOC TOC!
Snow White was reading beside the fire when someone knocked on the door.
Knock knock!
Blancanieves espió por la ventana y vio a una mujer con un cesto de frutas. La mujer tenía un rostro hermoso, pero llevaba puesto un vestido y unas botas viejos.
Snow White peeked out the window and saw a woman with a basket of fruit. The woman had a beautiful face, but she was wearing an old dress and (old) boots.
“¡Fruta! ¡Fruta fresca! ¡Manzanas y bananas y peras y naranjas!”
“Oh, quisiera un poco de fruta…” pensó Blancanieves.
La mujer vio a Blancanieves a través de la ventana.
“¡Hola, querida!” dijo la mujer. “¿Quieres un poco de fruta? Tengo unas manzanas deliciosas hoy”.
"Fruit! Fresh fruit! Apples and bananas and pears and oranges!"
"Oh, I'd like some fruit..." thought Snow White.
The woman saw Snow White through the window.
"Hello, dear!" said the woman. "Do you want some fruit? I have some delicious apples today."
“Me encantan las manzanas” dijo Blancanieves. “Pero se supone que no debo abrirle la puerta a nadie... esas manzanas podrían estar envenenadas.”
"I love apples..." said Snow White. "But I'm not supposed to open the door to anyone... Those apples could be poisoned."
“Ay, qué tonta” dijo la mujer, y cortó una manzana por la mitad. “Aquí tienes. Puedes probar la mitad, y yo me comeré la otra mitad. Así verás que NO está envenenada.”
"Oh, how silly," said the woman, and cut an apple in half. "Here you are. (Here you have). You can try half, and I will eat the other half. So you'll see that it is NOT poisoned."
Blancanieves abrió la puerta.
La mujer le dio la mitad de la manzana y se comió la otra mitad.
Snow White opened the door. The woman gave her half the apple and ate the other half.
Cuando Blancanieves vio a la mujer comiendo la manzana jugosa, se le hizo agua la boca. No pudo resistirse y le dio un buen mordisco a su mitad.
When Snow White saw the woman eating the juicy apple, her mouth watered. She couldn't resist, and took a good bite out of her half.
Casi inmediatamente, Blancanieves cayó al suelo. La manzana estaba envenenada, ¡pero solo una mitad!
La reina suspiró aliviada. Rápidamente volvió al carruaje y manejó de regreso al castillo.
Almost immediately, Snow White fell to the ground. The apple was poisoned, but only one half!
The queen sighed with relief. She quickly returned to her carriage and drove back to the castle.
