Al día siguiente, Rapunzel limpió su habitación y trenzó su cabello.
La bruja llegó para el almuerzo. Llevó un sándwich para Rapunzel y le mostró cómo preparar una medicina para curar dolores de cabeza.
The next day, Rapunzel cleaned her room and braided her hair. The witch arrived for lunch. She brought a sandwich for Rapunzel and showed her how to make a medicine to cure headaches.
Pero cuando la bruja se estaba yendo, encontró la soga de Juan en el suelo.
“¿De quién es esta soga? ¿De dónde la has sacado? ¿Quieres escaparte?”
But when the witch was leaving, she found Juan's rope on the floor.
"Whose rope is this? Where did you get it? Do you want to escape?"
Rapunzel intentó explicarle, pero la bruja estaba demasiado disgustada.
“Te quiero como a una hija. ¿De verdad me odias tanto que quieres irte?”
“Un hombre—” comenzó a decir Rapunzel.
Rapunzel tried to explain, but the witch was too upset.
"I love you like a daughter. Do you hate me so much that you want to leave?"
"A man—" Rapunzel began to say.
“¿Un hombre?” gritó la bruja. “¡Está bien! ¡Ve con él! ¡Ve!”. Las lágrimas caían por el rostro de la bruja. “Vete y vive feliz para siempre con este…¡hombre!”
"A MAN?" the witch shouted. "Very well! Go with him! Go!" Tears fell down her face. "Go live happily ever after with this... man!"
La bruja lanzó un poco de polvo mágico en el piso, y Rapunzel se quedó dormida inmediatamente.
The witch threw some magic powder on the floor and Rapunzel immediately fell asleep.
Cuando despertó, ya no estaba en la torre. Estaba tumbada debajo de un árbol en el bosque. Tenía el pelo corto.
Rapunzel era una chica muy sensata. Lloró por diez minutos, y luego se levantó y decidió buscar la torre.
When she woke up, she was no longer in the tower. She was lying under a tree in the forest. She had short hair.
Rapunzel was a very sensible girl. She cried for ten minutes, then got up and decided to look for the tower.
Mientras tanto, Juan regresó a la torre como había prometido.
“¡Rapunzel, Rapunzel, deja caer tu trenza!”, gritó desde abajo de la ventana. Y la trenza cayó frente a él.
Meanwhile, Juan returned to the tower as he had promised.
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your braid!" he shouted from below the window. And the braid fell in front of him.
Como seguramente sabes, Rapunzel no era quien estaba en la torre. Era la bruja.
Cuando Juan llegó a lo alto, la bruja jaló de él hacia el interior de la habitación.
As you probably know, Rapunzel was not the one in the tower. It was the witch.
When Juan reached the top, the witch pulled him into the room.
“¡Así que TÚ eres el hombre que quiere quitarme a mi Rapunzel!”, dijo. “Ya veo. Pues bien. Váyanse juntos y vivan felices para siempre”.
"So YOU are the man who wants to take my Rapunzel!" she said.
"I see. Well. Go and live happily ever after together. (Go together and live happily ever after.)"
La bruja sopló un puñado de polvo mágico en su rostro, y Juan se quedó ciego.
The witch blew a handful of magic dust in his face, and Juan went blind.
